2019 Haworth College of Business K.C. O’Shaughnessy Pitch Contest

Megan Gesler (Pictured above with Lycra-Gel team member Conner Mulhearn), who along with being a WMU TechNext Team member, is a sophomore in the Industrial and Entrepreneurial Engineering program and is a member of the WMU Cheer Squad.

According to a very enthusiastic Ms. Gesler after the contest:

“My idea was a Lycra-Gel infused sleeve that would help prevent bruising on elderly people’s arms. My fellow engineering team members did an outstanding job in helping me bring my idea to life and presenting it at the competition.

We formulated multiple business plans/decks and shot various practice videos. We performed well in the first set of pitches and made it onto the final pitch round. Hearing them call us up for finals was an amazing feeling, Connor, my presenter, nailed a great final presentation. I learned fast that it takes a great founding team to make things happen.

We ended up placing second overall, which means we received $1,400 to begin creating prototypes of our products and do market research. I am incredibly grateful to WMU and the Haworth College of Business for the opportunity to share my idea and can’t wait to see what its future holds.”

Proud Day to be a Bronco! Proud day to have Megan on the élite WMU Team TechNext!
