One word to summarize my experience in San Francisco with Team TechNext Western Michigan University is INSPIRED!

On a random day back in April, I got an email asking if I was interested in an opportunity that included "Opening Apertures and Changing Trajectories". Not having a clue what that meant, I took a chance. That chance led me to meeting Barcley Johnson and truly experiencing the best opportunity thus far in my college career.

After months of preparation and studying, we experienced a week full of in-depth exposure to the tech and startup industry, meeting WMU alumni around the Bay Area, and taking in all that the West Coast has to offer. We were able to visit companies and learn extremely valuable insights about the business world, while making connections with industry professionals.

Some of my favorite quotes:
Hitesh Shah asked us "What would you do if you had no fear?"
Kirsten Settle told us "Command not demand a seat at the table."
Brad Brooks said "Move fast and learn things!"

This trip showed me that the cards you were given do not define your future; they are merely the starting point. Your future is only limited by the amount of dedication, determination, and belief you invest in yourself. Challenges will arise, but they are opportunities to learn, adapt, and push beyond your comfort zone. Success isn’t a matter of luck—it’s the result of relentless effort, embracing failures as lessons, and committing to continuous learning. The journey itself shapes you just as much as the destination.

Thank you to those who made this trip possible! Thank you to the professionals and alumni that took the time to meet with us! Thank you to the other amazing students a part of Team TechNext!

I took a chance on TechNext, but thank you to Barcley Johnson for taking a chance on me! I could not be more grateful to be a part of such an amazing program and amazing team, thank you for all you do for us!
