Deep Technology Our Core Muse

The core DNA of the TechNext program is students' ability to embrace the "known unknowns" of future technology. What most see as fantasy, a select few recognize as destiny
Students are challenged to weave the uncertainties and potential impacts of cutting-edge technologies into their future career plans. At first glance, many of these technologies may seem beyond the realm of possibility.
Crucially, students must confront their potentially naïve understanding of their future lives. They face an unprecedented array of emerging technologies and a breakneck pace of change.
Naivety and ignorance, absence of failure aren't bliss—they're too easy a refuge for the untrained mind. Every occupation is now technology-based and will evolve rapidly.

Silicon Valley - Our Geography, Our Mindset

No other place on Earth rivals Silicon Valley's ability to attract brilliant minds, capital, and an entrepreneurial spirit that not only embraces the future but actively shapes it.

This is a very foreign land to most students from Michigan—intimidating yet intellectually seductive.

Silicon Valley Alumni

Silicon Valley boasts alumni uniquely willing to share their gifts, time, knowledge, and money—without ego. Unlike traditional WMU alumni efforts, these graduates offer more than just financial support.

Alumni in Silicon Valley have embraced our students and faculty with guidance, mentoring, jobs (yes, jobs!), and most importantly, access to their network of contacts—all without expecting anything in return.

What makes Silicon Valley alumni truly exceptional? Their offer of couch surfing to assist students while job hunting!

That's the real deal!

Company Visits - Live Critical Case Studies

Our core belief is that anyone can be a tourist and merely observe the shiny tech toys, furniture, or plaques. We aim for more. We have on-site visits with ten plus companies per trip.

We leverage each company visit as an opportunity to conduct a critical, graduate-level live case study of that firm. In 2025, this approach will become even more rigorous

Our analysis encompasses everything from the company's technology and people to its financials and future market prospects.

After Action Reports (AAR): Following each visit, we crowdsource notes from all students to gain an even deeper understanding of the companies we've explored.
